Benjamin Blank is in search of adventure. So when a Shark-Headed Bear-Thing starts terrorising a nearby village, Ben grabs his magic gauntlet and sets off to vanquish the beast.

But the course of true adventure does not run smoothly. Ben will need all his cunning to save the day, and it'd be good if he knew how to work his gauntlet too...

I got this book from my school’s book fair. It was right after our sports day and my nanny and grandad were there watching me and my brothers. When we went to look at the books, I saw The Shark-Headed Bear-Thing and thought it looked good. I liked the cover because I could see what the Shark-Headed Bear-Thing looked like. My mum was going to get a book each for me and my brothers but my grandad said he’d pay for them. This made me happy because I got a new book and it made my mum happy because she’d saved some money! We both said thank you to Grandad!

The characters in this story were Benjamin, Paradise, Wesley, Uncle Tavish, the Mayor of Loosh and the Shark-Headed Bear-Thing. The Shark-Headed Bear-Thing was evil and the rest were good. The Shark-Headed Bear-Thing was trying to destroy the village and Benjamin and his friends were trying to stop it. My favourite part was when Benjamin’s sword started to burn and he couldn’t use it to fight. You should read the book to find out what happened! My favourite character was Benjamin because he was brave. If you like funny books then you will love this one. I laughed a lot and my mum asked me what I was laughing at. I told her that Wesley said “We’re going to die” when a troll turned up. The troll made them play trump (my mum doesn’t let me say fart!) or death. That was so funny!

This is a picture I drew of the Shark-Headed Bear-Thing and Benjamin. I copied the book cover which was drawn by Chris Mould.
